About Caroline Huish

Caroline HuishI have spent most of my career working within Bristol's voluntary sector, either as a volunteer or in a salaried position. My main area of focus has been working with children and young people with disabilities and working with the various voluntary sector organisations who help and support the children and their families.

I became interested in hypnotherapy when I visited a local hypnotherapist regarding weight loss some years ago and was absolutely blown away by the results that were achieved. I was inspired to find out more, and after much research, I decided to take a change in direction and train to become a hypnotherapist myself.

I thoroughly enjoy working as a clinical hypnotherapist. It is an immensely rewarding and satisfying career which gives me huge work satisfaction. I love seeing the changes within people as they make positive progress with their difficulties.

I use Solution Focus Hypnotherapy and also include, where appropriate, Psychotherapy, CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and also Personal Life Coaching. Together, working in partnership, I can help and support you to overcome a wide range of challenges utilising your own skills, strengths and resources.

I am an Accredited Member of the National Council of Hypnotherapy (NCH) who are one of the main professional bodies for hypnotherapy in the UK. I abide by their strict code of conduct and ethics. I continually update and enhance my skills through Continual Professional Development and regularly attend supervision, training courses and conferences.

I originally trained at the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training School in Bristol where I gained a Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy and also the Hypnotherapy Practitioners Diploma. This is the first, nationally accredited Diploma in Hypnotherapy. It is accredited jointly by the National Council for Hypnotherapy and NCFE.

I take great pride in providing the best level of care that I can. Therefore, I regularly continue to study and broaden my skills by attending courses and workshops as part of my commitment to continuous professional development. Techniques and Strategies I employ a range of different techniques tailored to your session


  • Hypnotherapy

    Hypnotherapy is a safe, gentle and relaxing way of helping you to make significant changes in your life. It does this by enabling your subconscious mind to change any deep rooted negative beliefs and habits. During a light trance your brain enters a relaxed yet highly focused state which allows your subconscious mind to become very alert and open to positive suggestion.

  • Life Coaching

    Coaching is a way of helping you to move from where you are now to where you want to be. Coaching helps you to be self-motivated and goal orientated. It helps you to define your preferred future and empowers you to identify the strategies and tools that you need to help you to get there.

  • CBT (Cognitive behavioural therapy)

    CBT is also a talking therapy that challenges your perception of how you think about yourself, the world and other people. It explains how what you do affects how you think and feel. CBT can help you to change how you think 'Cognitive' and what you do 'Behaviour'. It focuses on the here and now rather than looking back on the past.

  • NLP (Neuro linguistic programming)

    NLP explores the relationship between how we think (neuro), how we communicate both verbally and non-verbally (linguistic) and our patterns of behaviour and emotions (programmes). It helps us to connect with the external world using our five senses of sight, sound, feelings, smell and taste and how we process this connection internally to arrive at the outcomes we reach.

  • Psychotherapy

    Psychotherapy is often referred to as a talking therapy. The aim of psychotherapy is to help you to overcome stress or emotional challenges. Psychotherapy involves us talking together to help you overcome your challenges. Psychotherapy is very person centred and non-judgemental.

  • Solution Focused Hypnotherapy

    SF Hypnotherapy is the most modern form of Clinical Hypnotherapy. It focuses on helping you to make significant and positive changes in your life. Solution Focused hypnotherapy looks at what you want to achieve, rather than on your problems that prompted you to seek change. This process focuses on the present and future and not on the past.

CNHC Registrant

Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council Member

Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). The CNHC is the UK regulator for complementary healthcare practitioners and was set up with Department of Health funding and support. Its key function is to enhance public protection by setting standards for registration with CNHC. The CNHC “quality mark” is being recognised as the hallmark of quality for the sector.
